We Revived the Dragon!

Idea

The idea was born when our associate saw this drawing of a dragon. As it is believed that dragons bring good luck to the house, he wanted to move one in - but the special one. All he had was a drawing in PDF format. After a little thought and deliberation we agreed to take the challenge.

Modeling

This demanding idea was to be implemented. In 3D environment, one polygon at a time, we transformed PDF drawing into model, which will them be shaped by machine in MDF. Being unique product, it had to be done slowly, by hand, with no shortcuts or help of automation.

Production

The three-dimensional processing can be a time-consuming. However, automatically interchangeable tools of used CNC router saved us some time. In order to meet the requirements of all other clients, all the work was divided in stages and thus enabled a smooth production flow.

Some more production

This video was taken as a showcase of how time consuming challenging projects can be. It is possible to speed the tools up, but it's at the cost of quality. It's the option we never use.
